Welcome to the 21st BSS!
The 21st Biostudies Student Symposium (BSS) marks the second student symposium in the Graduate School of Biostudies since it was renamed. Guided by fresh ideas, we remain dedicated to providing a platform for young scholars and students to exchange academic knowledge and show their talents.
In recent years, biology has made remarkable advancements. With breaking technologies, the field has opened a promising way to the future. Yet, we find ourselves in a tumultuous time. The COVID-19 pandemic and conflicts around the world remind us of the crises we face and the responsibilities we bear. For young budding scholars, understanding the laws of nature and learning how to apply them is the first step toward growth. Therefore, this year our slogan reflects this pathway as: “Decoding Nature, Deciding Our Future.”
Within the broader vibrant academic culture and rich heritage of Kyoto University, the Graduate School of Biostudies seeks to integrate diverse disciplines to make new discoveries in the life sciences. This fusion of tradition and innovation embodies the coexistence of diversity and heritage. In the 21st BSS, we offer a platform for GSB students of diverse backgrounds to present their discoveries and achievements to their peers and faculty, and we invite prominent researchers and industry professionals from around the world to share their insights with and advise younger aspiring scientists.
Decoding the mysteries of nature and exploring the future is both a challenging and rewarding journey. We invite you to join us as a partner in this adventure.
We look forward to welcoming you to the 21st BSS!
